A 30-year-old man has been remanded in custody following the death of his neighbour in a noise-related dispute in western Sydney. The incident occurred on Friday at a unit block on Lister Avenue in Ermington.

Emergency services were called to the scene after reports of an assault. Police allege that Salar Soleimani Zadeh punched the 41-year-old victim multiple times, causing him to fall down a flight of stairs. Authorities say Zadeh continued to assault the man after the fall. Paramedics attempted resuscitation at the scene before transporting the injured man to hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Following the incident, Ryde detectives established Strike Force Mimeko to investigate the circumstances surrounding the assault and subsequent fatality. Zadeh appeared at Burwood Local Court on Friday, charged with murder and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Bail was refused, and he is scheduled to appear again on Monday.

Police continue to conduct inquiries as the investigation unfolds.
