A Northern California homeowner has been fined $100,000 after hosting an illegal fireworks display on the Fourth of July in Del Paso Heights, Sacramento fire officials confirmed. The event involved the use of prohibited explosives, prompting a significant response from emergency crews.
According to Captain Justin Sylvia of the Sacramento Fire Department, personnel monitored the fireworks show for an extended period. “We had drones in the sky and crews traveling around town,” Sylvia said, noting that teams observed multiple illegal fireworks being launched from the property. Firefighters witnessed people repeatedly unloading explosives from a U-Haul trailer during the gathering.
The unauthorized display featured an extensive aerial fireworks show, producing vibrant explosions typically seen in professionally conducted events. Videos circulated on social media, where local residents noted the intensity of the fireworks. One TikTok user compared the display to Disneyland’s nightly fireworks, while others questioned the size of the fine imposed on the homeowner.
The Sacramento Fire Department has strict regulations against the possession and use of certain fireworks due to safety hazards and fire risk. Officials stressed that the fine underscores the seriousness of violating these laws, especially in densely populated neighborhoods.
The homeowner has not publicly commented on the fine or the incident. Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of adhering to local fireworks ordinances to prevent potential injuries and property damage during holiday celebrations.
