Lawrence McCutcheon, a five-time Pro Bowl running back for the Los Angeles Rams during the 1970s, died Friday at the age of 76 after a prolonged battle with Parkinson’s disease. McCutcheon played eight seasons with the Rams from 1972 to 1979, appearing in 89 games. He ranks fourth in franchise history for rushing yards, amassing a total of 6,186 yards, behind only Marshall Faulk, Eric Dickerson, and Steven Jackson.
In a separate announcement, Louisiana State University confirmed the death of Dale Brown, the former men’s basketball coach who led some of the Tigers’ most successful teams and coached NBA star Shaquille O’Neal during his collegiate career. Brown passed away Friday at the age of 90. He was set to receive the John R. Wooden Legends of Coaching Award in 2027 in recognition of his contributions to the sport.
