Independent men’s singles coach Nova Armada celebrated a notable double success on Sunday as two of his players secured significant badminton titles in separate international events. Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin and Cheah Liek Hou both overcame challenges to claim victories in Vietnam and Japan, respectively, marking important comebacks in their careers.

Aidil Sholeh, currently ranked world No. 91, captured his first World Tour title by defeating top seed and world No. 33 Jason Teh of Singapore with a score of 21-16, 21-14 in Ho Chi Minh City. This victory ended a title drought for Aidil that had lasted since his win at the Sri Lanka International Challenge in March of the previous year. Nova Armada highlighted the mental hurdles Aidil faced after a disappointing performance at the Thomas Cup Finals in Denmark, noting the hard work the player has put in over the last three months to rebuild confidence and motivation. With new sponsorships supporting him, Aidil is driven to improve not only his on-court performance but also his overall professional outlook. Nova expressed optimism about Aidil’s future prospects, hoping to see him break into the world’s top 30 rankings soon.

Meanwhile, Nova Armada was present in Tokyo to witness para badminton player Cheah Liek Hou’s success at the Para Japan Open held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. The 38-year-old athlete secured titles in both the men’s SU5 singles and doubles, partnering with Mohd Faris Ahmad Azri in the latter event. Liek Hou defeated local competitor Taiyo Imai 21-13, 21-11 in the singles final before teaming up with Faris to overcome the Indian-Singaporean pair Chirag Baretha and Tay Wei Ming 21-15, 21-15 in doubles.

Liek Hou’s performance is seen as a positive sign ahead of the upcoming Para Asian Games scheduled for Nagoya from October 18 to 24, where he aims to reclaim the double gold he last won at the 2014 Incheon edition. Nova remarked that Liek Hou, who had not competed for several months following his double victory at the French Para Badminton International in June, appears to be in good form and ready for the challenges at the Asian Games.

These dual achievements underline the resilience and talent of both Aidil Sholeh and Cheah Liek Hou as they prepare for future competitions on their respective international stages.
