Australia secured a landmark victory in the Speedway World Team Cup final held over the weekend in Warsaw, Poland, marking their first triumph in the competition since 2002. The event drew an audience of 40,000 spectators as the Australian team clinched the title with a total of 38 points.

Leading the charge was Cowra-born rider Brady Kurtz, ranked world number two, who contributed a team-high 11 points. Jason Doyle, a 2017 world individual champion from Newcastle, added 10 points and made history by becoming the first rider to achieve the FIM Speedway Grand Prix, Speedway World Team Cup, and Speedway of Nations titles—completing an unprecedented grand slam in the sport. Doyle described the win as a surreal and emotional milestone.

Other key contributions came from Ryan Douglas, who matched Doyle’s 10 points, and Max Fricke, who scored seven points. The team’s reserve rider, Rohan Tungate, was also part of the squad. Denmark finished as runners-up, followed by host nation Poland in third place and Great Britain in fourth.

Australia’s previous Speedway World Team Cup victory took place in 2002 in Peterborough, England, making this recent success a significant achievement in the nation’s speedway racing history.
