The Non-Resident Nepali Association, National Coordination Council (NRNA NCC) Qatar convened a condolence gathering to honor the late His Highness Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, recognizing his visionary leadership and significant contributions to Qatar’s transformation. The event, held in Doha, brought together members of the Nepali community, including representatives from various social and welfare organizations.

Prem Prasad Pokharel, labor attache at the Embassy of Nepal in Qatar, attended the ceremony as the guest of honor, symbolizing the Nepali community’s solidarity during the period of national mourning.

NRNA NCC Qatar President Krishna Panthi opened the event by expressing profound sorrow over the passing of the former leader. Panthi extended condolences to His Highness the Amir, the royal family, the Qatari government, and the people of Qatar, emphasizing the Father Amir’s crucial role in shaping Qatar into a progressive and globally respected country.

In a keynote address, Professor Mohammed Ramzan Ali Mia reflected on the enduring friendship between Nepal and Qatar and the expanding partnership between the two nations. He highlighted the late Father Amir’s strategic investments in economic diversification, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and diplomacy, which have paved the way for Qatar's modern development. Mia also noted Qatar’s hospitality and the opportunities it has offered to thousands of Nepali nationals who work and contribute to the country’s growth.

Representing the Embassy of Nepal, Prem Prasad Pokharel conveyed his sincere condolences and underscored Nepal’s respect for the late Amir’s lasting legacy. He reiterated the warm bilateral relations enjoyed by Nepal and Qatar and voiced a commitment to further enhancing cooperation and friendship between the two countries.

Additional representatives from Nepali organizations participating in the event shared messages of sympathy and reaffirmed their gratitude for the opportunities provided by Qatar to the Nepali community. They also expressed continued support for Qatar’s leadership and people during this challenging time.

The gathering concluded with collective prayers led by Maulana Ghulam Nabi Rajbi and a moment of silence in memory of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, whose vision and leadership remain integral to Qatar's ongoing development and international standing.
