London-based data centre company Nscale is acquiring San Francisco-based artificial intelligence start-up Anyscale for approximately $1.65 billion, according to sources familiar with the deal. The acquisition aims to expand Nscale’s offerings by integrating Anyscale’s software solutions, which facilitate the management and orchestration of complex AI tasks across distributed computing environments.

Anyscale, founded in 2024, provides technology that enables AI workloads to run efficiently across multiple computers simultaneously. Its platform is designed to streamline and scale artificial intelligence processes, making it a strategic asset for companies seeking to leverage AI at enterprise scale. The company operates under its own brand and serves a global customer base.

The acquisition will add roughly 200 employees from Anyscale, spread across offices in the United States, Europe, and India, to Nscale’s workforce. While Nscale has not publicly confirmed the financial specifics of the transaction, a report from Bloomberg first disclosed the $1.65 billion price tag.

Nscale, valued at $14.6 billion, is known for its focus on data centres, GPU infrastructure, and AI services. The company’s board features prominent industry figures, including Sheryl Sandberg, former chief operating officer of Meta, and Sir Nick Clegg, Meta’s former president of global affairs. Among Nscale’s notable investors is Nvidia, the American technology company specializing in graphics processing units, which are critical for AI computations.
