The Oak Cliff Film Festival, an annual event dedicated to showcasing independent filmmaking, will take place from July 30 to August 2 across various venues in the Oak Cliff neighborhood. Established in 2011, the festival utilizes local theaters, art spaces, bars, and small businesses to create a diverse cultural experience for attendees.

The festival opens on July 30 with a screening of The Sun Never Sets, a film starring Dakota Fanning, at 8 p.m. at the Texas Theatre. Following the screening, a free opening-night party featuring DJ Sober will be held. Prior to the official start of the festival, a pre-festival cocktail party for badgeholders is scheduled for July 29 at 7 p.m. at The Oak Cliff Assembly.

A highlight of the festival’s lineup is a free screening on August 1 at 8:45 p.m. in Halperin Park marking the 30th anniversary of the animated film Space Jam, which stars Michael Jordan. This event is part of a broader theme of 1990s nostalgia woven throughout the festival. Other related screenings include Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 film Pulp Fiction, which will feature co-screenwriter Roger Avary in attendance, and This Is Burns, a documentary focusing on the influential MTV series Burns from the 1990s.

Festival passes are available in several tiers, including a $38 ’90s Bundle pass and a $250 all-access VIP pass. Individual tickets for specific screenings are also on sale, with some events open to the public at no cost.
