Joseph A. Broton, 28, of Chicago, passed away recently. He was the husband of Kathryn Broton, née Tselepis, and the son of Donald and Alice Broton, née Szczudlo. He is survived by his siblings Adam (Reiss), Kimberly (Adam) Clendening, Matt, and Noah (Laura Pellegrino), as well as his mother-in-law Mary Tselepis (Reed Troutman) and brother-in-law William Tselepis. He was also a stepbrother-in-law to Zachary (Juliana) and Dylan Troutman, and is remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial gathering was scheduled for Sunday, August 9, 2026, from noon to 3 p.m. at the HABEN Funeral Home & Crematory in Skokie, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Community Animal Rescue Effort (CARE) in Skokie.
Eileen Fleming Doherty, age 88, died August 2, 2026. She was the daughter of the late John and Eileen Wall Fleming and the widow of J. Patrick Doherty. Eileen was the mother of seven children: Timothy (Sonya), Sharon (Anthony), John (Kathy), Patrick (Mary), Edmund (Jessie), Maribeth (D.J.) Rossini, and Thomas (Brandi) Doherty. She was also a grandmother to twelve grandchildren, including Patrick, Julianna, Breanna, Adrianna, John, Eleanor, Henry, Nicholas, Nolan, and Caroline. Eileen grew up in Chicago, attending St. Margaret of Scotland Elementary School and Longwood Academy High School, and later pursued higher education at St. Mary of the Woods College in Terre Haute, Indiana. She had a career teaching high school English at Morgan Park Academy and later served as a junior high English teacher at St. Isaac Jogues School in Hinsdale, Illinois, often alongside her sister Mary. After retiring, she devoted time to reading, grandparenting, volunteering as an art docent at the Art Institute of Chicago, and spending winters in Florida. Her visitation took place on August 7, 2026, at St. Isaac Jogues Church in Hinsdale, followed by a funeral mass and private interment at Calvary Cemetery in Evanston, Illinois. The family has encouraged memorial donations to St. Isaac Jogues School, St. Ignatius College Prep, or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
