The Sultanate of Oman is advancing its industrial transformation through active participation in the Gulf Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (GOIC4IR), aligning with its broader national strategies to modernize and diversify its manufacturing sector. This development was highlighted following the official launch of GOIC4IR and its digital platform at the 57th meeting of the Industrial Cooperation Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held in Bahrain on October 6, 2026.
Oman’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) continues to implement programs directed at enhancing the adoption of advanced technologies among Omani factories. These efforts support the country’s Vision 2040 and Industrial Strategy 2040 initiatives, which aim to foster a more competitive and technologically advanced industrial base.
The Industrial Strategy 2040 focuses on increasing productivity and efficiency in national industries, while encouraging innovation and integration of modern technologies into manufacturing processes. These measures seek to add greater economic value through diversification, reducing reliance on traditional sectors.
Participation in GOIC4IR bolsters these national objectives by leveraging a regional framework designed to promote the adoption of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies across GCC member states. The center’s launch in Bahrain signals a commitment to closer industrial cooperation within the Gulf region, providing a platform to coordinate digital transformation initiatives and share best practices.
Through this integration, Oman aims to strengthen its capacity in smart manufacturing, ensuring that its industrial development keeps pace with global technological trends and contributes to sustained economic growth in line with its long-term strategic goals.
