Oman and Saudi Arabia held high-level talks on Wednesday aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and addressing regional issues of mutual concern. The discussions took place in Muscat, where Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Oman's Foreign Minister, hosted Prince Faisal bin Farhan al Saud, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, as part of ongoing efforts to deepen cooperation between the two Gulf neighbors.

The ministers reviewed the steady growth of ties across multiple sectors, expressing a shared commitment to enhancing coordination on regional and political matters. This included a focus on economic collaboration, investment initiatives, and logistics, intended to facilitate trade flows and promote wider partnership frameworks not only bilaterally but also within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) context.

An expanded session followed, involving senior officials and ministers from both sides. From Oman, participants included Sultan bin Salim al Habsi, Minister of Finance; Anwar bin Hilal al Jabri, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion; Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah al Hinai, Ambassador-at-Large at the Foreign Ministry; Khalid bin Hashil al Muselhi, Under-Secretary of the Foreign Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs; and Mohsin bin Hamad al Hadhrami, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals. The Saudi delegation featured Dr Rumaih bin Mohammed al Rumaih, Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistics Services; Dr Saud bin Mohammed al Sati, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs; Eng Majid al Otaibi, Deputy Minister of Energy for Technical and Regulatory Affairs for Petroleum and Gas; and Ibrahim bin Saad bin Bishan, Saudi Ambassador to Oman.

During the talks, officials highlighted the importance of aligning strategies under Oman Vision 2040 and Saudi Vision 2030, noting the significant role of the private sector in advancing partnership efforts. Both nations discussed leveraging their complementary advantages to enhance integration and support regional development.

A critical topic of discussion was the security of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital chokepoint for global trade and energy supplies. Both sides emphasized the strategic importance of maintaining safe and free maritime transit and underscored the necessity of de-escalation to minimize risks in the region. They advocated for diplomatic efforts to manage tensions and safeguard international navigation routes.

The meeting reflects ongoing diplomatic engagement between Oman and Saudi Arabia, underscoring a shared interest in fostering stability and cooperation in the Gulf region amid complex geopolitical challenges.
