Muscat—Oman’s Minister of Economy, Dr. Khamis bin Saif al Jabri, met with Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk, Director-General of the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), on Wednesday to discuss strengthening economic and statistical cooperation between Oman and the organization.

The discussions focused on enhancing dialogue and understanding among SESRIC member states, with an emphasis on expanding collaboration and solidarity in political, economic, social, and cultural areas. Both parties also addressed shared efforts to combat terrorism and extremism within the region.

The meeting began with a welcome address and a visual presentation outlining Oman Vision 2040 and its strategic objectives. Participants reviewed the Sultanate’s economic performance from 2021 to 2026 and examined ongoing cooperation between the Ministry of Economy and SESRIC. Future priorities for collaboration were discussed, highlighting SESRIC’s role in advancing social and economic development and promoting intra-regional cooperation on statistics, economic and social research, training, and technical assistance.

The session included attendance by Dr. Nasser bin Rashid al Maawali, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, along with various officials and staff from the ministry. The engagement aims to further align Oman’s development goals with SESRIC’s mandate to support member states in achieving sustainable growth through enhanced data analysis and capacity building.
