The Research and Innovation Authority in Oman has announced the projects selected to represent the country at the international finals of the Falling Walls Lab forum, set to take place in Berlin, Germany, from November 5 to 9. The announcement followed the conclusion of the final qualifying round of the competition’s eleventh edition, held at the University of Nizwa.

The event was conducted under the patronage of Dr. Saif bin Abdullah al Haddabi, Chairman of the Research and Innovation Authority, and witnessed by Professor Dr. Ahmed bin Khalfan al Rawahi, President of the University of Nizwa. The competition saw extensive participation from researchers and innovators across various academic and research institutions throughout Oman.

Among the 20 finalists, who qualified from an initial pool of 158 participants, Abdullah bin Mohammed al Alawi took first place for his project titled “Breaking the Wall of Inequality in Medical Education Opportunities.” The second place was awarded to Rayan bint Salim al Sarmi for her project “Breaking the Wall of Chemotherapy-Induced Hair Loss in Cancer Patients.” The third place went to Ali bin Ahmed al Zadjali, recognized for his project “Breaking the Barrier of Circular Asphalt.”

Participants were required to present their innovations in three-minute pitches before a specialized panel of judges comprising experts, academics, and business leaders. This panel was responsible for evaluating the feasibility and potential impact of each project, ultimately selecting those that will represent Oman at the global stage. The Falling Walls Lab forum provides a platform for young innovators to showcase solutions that address critical challenges across various fields.
