The Oman Basketball Association (OBA) convened its board of directors on Wednesday to assess preparations for the 2026-27 basketball season. The meeting, chaired by Eng Khalfan bin Saleh al Naabi, focused on reviewing organizational and technical arrangements for upcoming competitions involving various age groups.
The new season is scheduled to commence with the women’s Credit Oman Cup match on October 25, followed by the men’s opening match on October 26. Board members emphasized the need to finalize preparations to ensure smooth execution of competitions in alignment with the association’s strategic plans.
Discussions during the session also encompassed administrative and financial issues, alongside reports from committees detailing activities carried out earlier in the year. Al Naabi urged board members and association committees to work collaboratively to bolster the development of basketball in Oman. He highlighted the importance of enhancing both administrative and technical efforts, aiming to elevate the standards of competitions for the benefit of players, clubs, and national teams.
Al Naabi further acknowledged the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for its ongoing support and cooperation, noting that close coordination with ministry officials has facilitated the implementation of programs and advanced the association’s goals.
The board reviewed the financial statements covering the year-to-date period and evaluated the success of recent programs and events. Technical reports presented by relevant committees were examined, with members considering their recommendations to guide future decisions. The meeting concluded with an overview of incoming correspondence and additional issues, leading to the identification of appropriate follow-up actions to support the OBA’s ongoing work and upcoming initiatives.
