Oman Club and Al Amerat both opened their 2026/2027 Youth Indoor Handball League seasons with convincing wins, each securing two points in the competition’s early stages. The matches took place at the Oman Club sports hall.
Oman Club dominated their encounter against Saham from the outset, demonstrating disciplined attacking and a well-structured defense. They built a substantial lead, concluding the first half with a 20-4 advantage. Maintaining their momentum in the second half, Oman Club extended the margin further to secure a 36-9 victory. This comprehensive win gave the hosts a strong foundation in Group A.
Meanwhile, Al Amerat also started their campaign successfully by defeating Al Ittihad 26-13 at the same venue. The team showed greater control throughout the match, effectively managing play to achieve a 13-goal winning margin. Their victory marked the beginning of their league journey with two important points.
The Youth Indoor Handball League features 10 clubs, divided equally into two groups of five. Group A includes Muscat, Oman Club, Al Orouba, Al Khabourah, and Saham, while Group B consists of Seeb, Nizwa, Al Amerat, Al Ittihad, and Masirah.
The competition’s preliminary phase follows a single round-robin format, with teams earning points from each match. The top two teams from each group will advance to the second round. That stage involves a two-legged playoff, where the Group A winner faces the Group B runner-up, and the Group B winner meets the Group A runner-up. The victors of these ties will progress to the final, while the defeated sides will contest a third-place playoff.
If teams are tied on points and goal difference after the two matches in the second round, the winner will be decided by a penalty shootout, with no extra time played.
This season is anticipated to serve as a valuable platform for young athletes to gain competitive experience and further develop their technical and tactical skills as they vie for the league championship.
