Oman conducted a medical evacuation of an injured crew member following an attack on an Indian commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, the country’s military authorities reported on Friday. The Royal Air Force of Oman facilitated the transfer in coordination with relevant agencies, according to a statement from the military’s Directorate of Moral Guidance.

The injured individual was flown from Khasab Hospital, located in the northern Musandam governorate, to Khawla Hospital in Muscat, where they will receive specialized medical care. The incident occurred roughly 1.6 nautical miles off the coast of Musandam, where the vessel had caught fire after coming under attack.

Earlier, the Royal Navy of Oman announced the evacuation of 25 crew members from the affected commercial ship. Details regarding the nature of the attack or the identity of the assailants have not been disclosed by Omani authorities. The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical and sensitive maritime passage, frequently witnessing security challenges due to its strategic importance for global shipping.
