Oman’s junior national golf teams are participating in a joint training camp in Almaty, Kazakhstan, from July 31 to August 7, as part of preparations for upcoming regional and continental tournaments. The camp is a component of the Oman Golf Association’s (OGA) long-term development plan aimed at improving the technical, physical, and competitive skills of its young golfers.

This initiative underscores the growing collaboration between the Oman Golf Association and the Kazakhstan Golf Federation, which has expanded through ongoing technical cooperation, knowledge sharing, and joint development programs to advance the sport in both countries. The training schedule includes intensive daily practice sessions led by the national coaching staff, combined with simulated tournament rounds to enhance competitive readiness. The camp will conclude with an international friendly tournament featuring teams from Oman, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

The Omani delegation consists of 12 players from various age groups, including Moheeb al Kathiri, Mohammed al Junaidi, Mohammed al Nabhani, Taimur al Busaidy, Yousef al Rumhi, Waleed al Sharji, Ibrahim Riyadh, Ahmed al Harthy, Anas al Kathiri, Mirairi Sambat, Heba al Nabhani, and Yasmeen al Kathiri. The group is led by Faiz Mohammed Riyadh, Vice-Chairman of the Oman Golf Association. Coaching duties are overseen by Jonathan with assistance from Fahad al Kitani, while administrative responsibilities are managed by Nickel Sampt and Ahmed al Jahdhami.

Riyadh described the camp as a significant step in the association’s player development strategy and a continuation of the productive partnership between the Omani and Kazakh golf federations. He noted that initial cooperation began with official meetings in Muscat and has since evolved to include youth-focused exchange visits and friendly competitions. Riyadh also emphasized the value of having additional Asian teams participate in the closing tournament, as it offers the Omani players valuable competitive experience and opportunities to measure their progress against regional peers.

Several Under-13 players are attending their first overseas training camp, an exposure expected to boost their confidence and better prepare them for future international competition. The Oman Golf Association remains committed to fostering youth development through international training opportunities and strategic partnerships, aiming to cultivate a new generation of golfers who can represent Oman at regional, Asian, and global levels.
