The Oman Marine Sports Committee (OMSC) and Al Sifah Development Tourism Company have signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance collaboration in marine sports and promote events that integrate sporting, community, and tourism activities. The agreement, formalized this week, aims to establish a cooperative framework to advance marine-related initiatives and boost the profile of Al Sifah as a tourism destination.

Under the terms of the memorandum, the two parties will work together to improve the organisation and management of marine events, placing particular emphasis on a fishing competition hosted by Al Sifah Development Tourism Company. The partnership is expected to bolster administrative and logistical support for this event while creating opportunities for Omani professionals engaged in event planning and management.

According to the agreement, Al Sifah Development Tourism Company may also provide assistance to one of the OMSC’s marine sports programmes during the agreement’s duration, with the specifics of such support to be outlined in separate arrangements between the parties. Conversely, the committee will offer organisational, logistical, and supervisory aid to the company’s fishing event according to its capacity and agreed terms.

Shaikh Ali bin Said Bait Fadhel, Chairman of the Oman Marine Sports Committee, described the collaboration as a significant step toward strengthening ties with the tourism sector and expanding support for marine sports events within Oman. He emphasized that the partnership would create opportunities to harness Omani expertise and enhance the organisation of marine activities.

“This memorandum represents a vital advancement in our efforts to cooperate with the tourism sector and back marine event initiatives,” Shaikh Ali said. “Our joint efforts will focus on providing the necessary organisational, logistical, and supervisory support in alignment with the committee’s capabilities and responsibilities.”

Mohammed Abdulaziz, Group Chief Financial Officer at Al Sifah Development Tourism Company, highlighted the firm’s dedication to forging partnerships with key stakeholders in marine sports to foster events that combine sporting competition with community engagement and tourism promotion. He noted that pooling resources and expertise with the OMSC would elevate the quality and visibility of their marine events.

“The collaboration with the Oman Marine Sports Committee will enhance both the organisational quality and oversight of our events,” Mohammed remarked. “This will contribute to raising awareness of Al Sifah’s tourism potential.”
