The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, through the Oman Accreditation Centre, observed World Accreditation Day 2026 on June 22 in Muscat, highlighting the theme “Innovation, Trust and Sustainability: The Power of Accreditation.” The event gathered officials, experts, and representatives from both government and private sectors to emphasize the critical role of accreditation in underpinning quality infrastructure and driving economic growth.
During the event, the Ministry reaffirmed its dedication to advancing Oman’s national quality system by enhancing the reliability of services, products, and processes. This approach aims to boost confidence in inspection, testing, examination, and certification outcomes, thereby supporting the business and investment climate and facilitating trade in alignment with the goals outlined in Oman Vision 2040.
Dr. Said bin Sultan al Busaidy, Director of the Oman Accreditation Centre, underscored the Ministry’s focus on accreditation as a key pillar of quality infrastructure. He described accreditation as essential for fostering trust, encouraging innovation, and ensuring products and services meet international standards. He also highlighted the Centre’s ongoing efforts to expand its presence regionally and internationally and to fulfill the criteria for global recognition. These steps are intended to improve the international acceptance of results from national conformity assessment bodies, which in turn supports Omani exports and attracts foreign investment.
