Oman has joined the Gulf Center of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in an effort to advance its industrial sector through digital transformation and smart manufacturing, in alignment with the country’s Vision 2040 and Industrial Strategy 2040. This move reflects Oman’s ongoing commitment to developing a modern, knowledge-based industrial economy.

The Gulf Center, recently established in Bahrain, aims to support Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries by facilitating the adoption of advanced industrial and digital technologies. It serves as a regional platform connecting factories, evaluators, technology solution providers, and training programs, promoting collaboration and innovation across the manufacturing sector.

Officials from Oman’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion highlighted the significance of accelerating smart industry adoption to enhance productivity, efficiency, and competitiveness in manufacturing. They underscored the value of regional cooperation through the Center as a means to share expertise and successful practices among Gulf countries.

Future phases of the initiative will prioritize converting factory evaluations into practical smart manufacturing projects. Efforts will also focus on building national capacities to assess industrial processes and encouraging Omani technology firms to develop more localized industrial technology solutions.

Participation in the Center is expected to grant Omani companies greater access to advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence services. This access aims to boost the competitiveness of Omani manufacturers both regionally and internationally, supporting the country’s broader goal to modernize its industrial landscape through innovation and digitalization.
