Oman and Qatar reaffirmed their commitment to regional stability and enhanced bilateral cooperation during a high-level meeting held recently between their top diplomatic officials. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Oman’s Foreign Minister, met with Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, to review the strong ties between the two countries and explore avenues for expanding economic and investment partnerships.
The discussions covered a broad range of topics, including strategic partnerships aimed at benefiting both nations and their populations. The officials also exchanged views on pressing regional and international developments, emphasizing the importance of coordinated efforts to support stability and security within the Gulf and beyond.
A significant focus of the meeting was the ongoing political and diplomatic initiatives aimed at reducing tensions and fostering sustainable dialogue in the region. The ministers underscored the critical need to maintain secure maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital artery for global trade and energy shipments. Both parties stressed that ensuring safe passage must align with international law, respect national sovereignty, and safeguard broader international interests.
The dialogue highlighted the appreciation of joint efforts by Oman, Qatar, and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states to promote peace and security through integrated coordination and mutual understanding. The cooperative framework established by the GCC continues to be a key platform for reinforcing stability across the region.
The meeting was also attended by Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah al Hinai, Ambassador-at-Large at Oman’s Foreign Ministry, and Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz al Khulaifi, Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, along with other officials from both countries. This latest engagement reflects the ongoing commitment by Oman and Qatar to deepen their diplomatic relations and contribute constructively to regional peace efforts.
