Oman’s Ministry of Education has formalized partnerships with private-sector entities to support the upcoming fifth edition of the Oman Science Festival, with the objective of expanding its scientific programs and enhancing interactive learning opportunities for students and visitors. The agreement signing took place under the patronage of Dr. Madeeha bint Ahmed al Shaibani, Minister of Education, and was attended by Dr. Intisar bint Abdullah Ambusaidi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry for Educational Support Programmes and Chairperson of the festival’s main committee.

These collaborations are intended to bolster the festival’s resources, increase the scope of its activities, and further embed a culture of science, technology, and innovation across Oman. The Ministry aims to encourage heightened private-sector engagement in national initiatives that focus on education and the development of scientific capacities.

Dr. Maya bint Said al Azri, Director-General of Scientific Innovation and Artificial Intelligence at the Ministry and Chairperson of the festival’s Scientific Committee, emphasized the festival’s role as a key national initiative fostering scientific awareness and showcasing advancements in science and technology. Speaking at the event, she highlighted the critical connection between investing in people and national progress, underscoring the need to equip younger generations with the skills necessary to navigate and contribute to ongoing scientific and technological developments in line with Oman Vision 2040.

Reflecting on the festival’s impact, Dr. Maya noted that the previous four editions had collectively attracted more than 840,000 visitors, illustrating growing public engagement. The fourth edition alone saw participation from over 140 institutions across various sectors, signaling increasing community and organizational involvement in the festival’s activities.

As Oman prepares for the fifth edition of the science festival, the Ministry of Education’s partnerships with private sector entities signal a commitment to expanding and enriching the country’s scientific landscape, supporting the broader national agenda for innovation and knowledge-based development.
