Oman finalized 28 investment agreements worth over RO 304 million on Wednesday, targeting a range of new industrial, manufacturing, food processing, logistics, and commercial projects across the country’s special economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities. These projects collectively span more than two square kilometers and aim to boost economic diversification and job creation in line with Oman Vision 2040.

The largest portion of the investment, valued at RO 147.6 million, will be directed to industrial cities managed by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn). A significant part of this allocation includes a RO 112 million iron and steel products plant being developed in Sohar Industrial City. Other notable Madayn investments include a RO 20 million ceramics facility by Fujian Mansheng Industries and a RO 7 million fertiliser plant by Gulf Organic and Biological Fertilisers in Raysut Industrial City.

Additional investments of RO 58.5 million were secured in Sohar Freezone, highlighted by a RO 38 million Oman Automobile Assembly Complex covering 317,000 square meters. Complementing this, Voltamp High Voltage Transformers plans to establish a RO 15 million transformer manufacturing facility, and Lalan Middle East is set to expand its medical equipment factory. The Sohar Freezone package also encompasses two logistics projects.

The Special Economic Zone at Duqm attracted six agreements worth RO 55.08 million, including a RO 40 million shrimp-feed factory by Al Jazer Feed. Other ventures in Duqm involve livestock quarantine services, fish canning, tuna and squid processing, used-oil recycling, and mixed-use property developments.

In the Salalah Free Zone, three agreements totaling RO 32.95 million were signed, with Al Nawras Industries leading a RO 19.25 million steel structures plant. The zone will also see a RO 7.7 million gypsum products facility by Integrated Gypsum and a RO 6 million dairy processing project by Dhofar Pastures.

Khazaen Economic City finalized seven agreements exceeding RO 10.4 million, including a RO 3.4 million electric vehicle charger manufacturing plant and a RO 2.5 million precast concrete facility. Additional investments are focused on construction materials, warehousing, and industrial units. The signing event also marked the official launch of Khazaen’s free zone with its first two investment agreements.

Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ), emphasized that these projects will expand industrial activity, generate employment opportunities, support food security, and enhance Oman’s integration into global supply chains. He highlighted OPAZ’s commitment to providing regulatory clarity, efficient investor services, and leveraging Oman’s infrastructure and international market connectivity.

Daoud bin Salim al Hadabi, CEO of Madayn, noted the importance of the new investments in strengthening domestic supply chains, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, and fostering sustainable economic growth. OPAZ officials underscored that the initiatives would drive industrial diversification, increase local value addition, and promote synergies between manufacturing, logistics, and supporting services across the Sultanate.
