Omani banks listed on the Muscat Securities Market reported a combined net profit increase of 8.1% for the nine months ending September 2026. The sector’s total net earnings reached 455 million Omani rials, up from approximately 420.6 million rials during the same period last year.
The financial results reflect notable improvements in revenue generation, a reduction in risk levels, expanded electronic banking services, and a strengthened customer base. These factors contributed to the overall growth despite a challenging economic environment.
Bank Muscat led the sector in profitability, recording a net profit of 191.5 million rials. It was followed by Sohar International Bank, Bank Dhofar, National Bank of Oman, Bank Nizwa, and Bank Al Ahli. However, Bank Nizwa experienced a decline in profits due to an increase in operating expenses.
Several banks have taken steps to bolster the banking sector by approving capital increases and enhancing strategic initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and competitive positioning. These measures are seen as part of broader efforts to solidify the banking industry's resilience and support sustained growth in the Sultanate’s financial services landscape.
