Omani para cyclist Sami bin Salim al Sulaimi finished seventh overall in the men’s H4 handcycling classification at the 2026 Challenge Breton International held in France. Over the course of four events between August 25 and August 30, al Sulaimi accumulated 30 points, competing against a field of 12 riders in the final standings.

Al Sulaimi’s campaign began in Landaul with a sixth-place finish in the road race on August 25, completing the course in 1 hour, 29 minutes and 20 seconds. Two days later, he placed seventh at the Grand Prix de Plouay Para-cycling road race with a time of 1:49:13. The series then moved to Ploërmel, where he finished ninth in the road race on August 29, recording a time of 1:38:30. The final event was the individual time trial on August 30, where al Sulaimi secured eighth place, finishing in 30 minutes and three seconds.

The four-race program, consisting of three road races and one time trial, was conducted under the guidance of German coach Stefan Hoffmann. This participation was part of a development plan aimed at enhancing al Sulaimi’s technical skills and competitive readiness on the international para-cycling circuit.

Although the schedule proved physically demanding, with four races over six days, al Sulaimi completed his full program and maintained consistent performances throughout the competition. His participation offered him valuable experience competing alongside some of the top international para cyclists in the H4 category.

The overall standings were led by French rider Sebastien Rio with four points, followed by Luxembourg’s Carlos Filipe Neves Alves in second place with nine points, and Dutch cyclist Dave Versluis, who secured third with 10 points. India’s Prashant Arkal took fourth place with 16 points.

Beyond the rankings, the Challenge Breton International provided al Sulaimi an opportunity to evaluate his physical condition, improve race pacing and management, and identify areas for further advancement. His involvement is part of the Oman Paralympic Committee’s broader efforts to support Omani para athletes by facilitating international competition experience that prepares them for upcoming continental and global events.

Al Sulaimi departed France having completed all four races and achieving seventh place overall, marking continued progress in his development as a para-cyclist on the world stage.
