Oman's agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector experienced significant growth in the first quarter of 2026, according to a quarterly report released by the Ministry of Economy. The sector’s gross domestic product (GDP) at constant prices increased by 6.1 percent, reaching approximately RO 337.8 million, up from RO 318.3 million in the same period in 2025.
This increase was driven by improved output and enhanced efficiency across the agriculture and fisheries sub-sectors, supported by greater investment and developments in production and supply chains. Within the sector, agricultural activities saw robust growth of 12 percent, while fisheries activities recorded a modest rise of 0.9 percent, reflecting steady performance in Oman’s marine industries alongside continued expansion in agricultural production.
The Ministry of Economy also highlighted the sector’s growing contribution to the overall national economy. Agriculture, forestry, and fisheries accounted for 3.4 percent of Oman’s total GDP in the first quarter of 2026, up from 2.9 percent during the same period last year.
The report underscores ongoing efforts to strengthen food production and sustainability within the Sultanate, aiming to support economic diversification and reduce reliance on oil revenues.
