A boating accident on the Dong Nai River in Lam Dong province, Vietnam, resulted in one fatality and left another person missing, local authorities reported Friday. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. Thursday in Bao Thuan commune, when a group of approximately eight individuals were returning to the riverbank after dining by the riverside.
According to rescue officials, six passengers were able to swim to safety, while two men were swept away by the river’s current. Rescue teams conducted several hours of search operations, during which they recovered one body. Efforts to locate the missing individual are ongoing. The cause of the capsizing has not yet been disclosed. Local authorities continue to monitor the situation and provide support to those affected.
