Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi met with key club figures on Thursday evening to discuss potential final additions ahead of the summer transfer window’s close. The meeting took place at an Italian restaurant and included De Zerbi, his assistant Enrico Venturelli, members of the Lewis family, chief executive Vinai Venkatesham, and sporting director Johan Lange.

Since last season’s struggle against relegation, Tottenham have invested nearly £400 million in new signings as they seek to strengthen the squad. De Zerbi indicated that the club remains open to securing “one more” player, specifically targeting a particular position highlighted during their discussions. Among reported targets is Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, emphasizing the club’s ambition to continue bolstering the squad before the window shuts.

“This transfer window has already exceeded expectations,” De Zerbi said ahead of Tottenham’s home fixture against Newcastle United. “I think we can do one player more and in one specific position. We went for dinner and are all on the same page.”

Tottenham have completed eight signings this summer, twice breaking their transfer record in quick succession last month. The club has also recouped nearly £150 million from player sales, with potential for additional increases through performance-based add-ons. This is the club’s first summer transfer window since Daniel Levy stepped down as chairman.

De Zerbi also provided an update on winger Dejan Kulusevski, who has been sidelined for over 15 months following a serious knee injury sustained in May 2025. The 26-year-old is nearing a return to full fitness, and the manager is hopeful of including him in the Premier League squad.

“I hope and will be very happy to see Kulusevski inside [the squad],” De Zerbi said. “I want to put him in the list, he is working very hard.”

With the transfer window closing soon, Tottenham appear poised to finalize their squad reshaping as they aim to improve performance after a challenging previous campaign.
