Renovation and construction work are currently underway in Falam Township, Chin State, focusing on key government office buildings and staff housing. The projects include refurbishment of the Deputy Director’s Office of the District Highways Department’s three-storey reinforced concrete building, construction of two new housing units for the Highways Department, and renovation of the Urban and Housing Development Department’s three-storey office building.
Deputy Minister for Construction Dr. Thaung Naing visited Chin State to oversee these rehabilitation efforts. Accompanied by Chin State Minister for Electricity, Energy, Industry and Transport U Nay Lin Aung and members of the Chin State Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Committee, Dr. Thaung Naing conducted an inspection of the ongoing works on the morning of October 6.
During the visit, the deputy minister emphasized the importance of systematic repairs to ensure that office functions could resume promptly and public services be restored without delay. He urged officials to accelerate the renovation process so that the buildings could be fully operational as soon as possible.
Following the inspection of the departmental offices, Dr. Thaung Naing also reviewed the renovation of the former Road Management Centre, where a temporary office has been opened to facilitate ongoing operations. Additionally, he visited the three-storey staff housing facility under the Department of Urban and Housing Development. There, he instructed that accommodations be maintained to provide a safe and comfortable living environment for staff and their families working in Falam.
The deputy minister further directed the efficient use of salvaged construction materials, proper disposal of waste, thorough cleaning of work sites, and arrangement of drainage channels to enhance water flow around the renovation areas. These measures aim to support both the functionality and environmental standards of the facilities being upgraded.
