Ooredoo was recognized with the Qatar Private Sector Nationalisation Award in the Information Technology and Digital Services category during a ceremony held on October 27 at the Qatar National Convention Centre. The event, organized under the Himmah initiative by the Ministry of Labour, celebrated organizations contributing to the nationalisation of jobs and the development of Qatari talent.

The award was presented by HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan al-Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, to Sheikh Ali bin Jabor bin Mohammad al-Thani, CEO of Ooredoo Qatar. The ceremony followed the announcement of the winners on September 27 and gathered representatives from various sectors alongside national talent recognized for their achievements.

In accepting the award, Sheikh Ali bin Jabor emphasized Ooredoo’s dedication to advancing the role of Qatari employees in the company’s operations. He highlighted that empowering national staff to assume leadership and specialist positions is integral to the company’s ability to innovate and support Qatar’s digital transformation goals. “We will continue to invest in our national talent, supporting the development of a knowledge-based economy and the achievement of Qatar National Vision 2030,” he said.

Maryam Hassan al-Hajri, Chief Human Resources Officer at Ooredoo Qatar, underscored the company’s focus on providing ongoing learning and development opportunities tailored to the rapidly evolving telecommunications and information technology sectors. She also noted Ooredoo’s commitment to fostering a supportive work environment that facilitates career growth for Qatari employees, enabling them to fulfill their professional aspirations within the organization.

The award reflects broader government efforts to promote the national workforce’s participation in key industries, contributing to Qatar’s economic diversification and workforce nationalisation objectives.
