KUWAIT CITY — The Indian Dentists’ Alliance in Kuwait (IDAK), in partnership with Balavedi, the children’s wing of the Kerala Art Lovers Association (KALA) Kuwait, held an Oral Hygiene Awareness Seminar and Dental Screening Camp on June 5, 2026. The event, sponsored by Mango Hypermarket, aimed to educate around 250 children on the importance of oral hygiene and preventive dental care through interactive activities.

The program opened with a solo mime performance by Dr. Sharon J. Thomas of the IDAK Cultural Committee. Using creative storytelling and expressive gestures, the performance highlighted key oral health practices such as proper brushing techniques, healthy dietary choices, and the need for regular dental check-ups.

Following the inaugural ceremony organized by KALA, Dr. Joshin Thomas, Chair of IDAK’s Community Welfare Committee, conducted a seminar emphasizing the significance of maintaining good oral hygiene habits. The session was designed to engage children and provide practical guidance on sustaining dental health.

A quiz led by Dr. Valentina Fernandes, a member of the Community Welfare Committee, encouraged the young participants to actively review and retain the information shared during the seminar. This interactive element reinforced the oral health messages in an enjoyable and educational manner.

Simultaneously, a dental screening camp was conducted under the supervision of IDAK’s Community Welfare Committee Co-Chair Dr. Shibu George. The screening team included Drs. Jemy Shibu, Suja Mary John, Subu Thomas, and Manoj Kumar Yasangi, who examined the children and provided individualized advice based on their dental health evaluations.

Several IDAK volunteers, including Drs. Subin Bharath, Abey Kurian, Reshma Rajendran, and Annlyn Roy Tharakan, contributed to the smooth operation of the camp. IDAK Council members, such as President Dr. Shalin Anna Simon, Vice President Dr. Aju Wilson, General Secretary Dr. Dilip George, and Joint Secretary Dr. Fawwaz Khan, were also present and actively involved in the event.

The seminar and screening camp successfully reached approximately 250 children, delivering crucial information on oral health and offering practical dental assessments. The event concluded positively, reinforcing IDAK’s ongoing commitment to advancing oral health awareness and preventive care within the local community.
