EUGENE, Ore. — No. 2 Oregon overcame a sluggish start to defeat Boise State 34-27 in the season opener for both teams on Saturday at Autzen Stadium. Quarterback Dante Moore led the Ducks with three touchdown passes and nearly 400 yards passing, while wide receiver Dakorien Moore secured the game-winning score on a 62-yard reception late in the fourth quarter.

Boise State struck first, with quarterback Maddux Madsen connecting on a 13-yard touchdown pass to Cam Bates on the opening drive. The Broncos, who entered the contest as 24.5-point underdogs and are joining the rebuilt Pac-12 conference this season, maintained a competitive edge throughout the game. Madsen finished with 181 passing yards and three touchdowns, matching Oregon's touchdown pass total despite the loss.

Oregon, which extended its streak to 16 consecutive season-opening wins at home and 39 straight victories over nonconference opponents, was hampered by 10 penalties for 90 yards but outgained Boise State 497 to 274 yards on offense. After trailing multiple times, including a 20-14 deficit at halftime, Oregon mounted a second-half comeback fueled by key plays from Dante Moore, who chose to remain with the Ducks after a productive 2025 season in which he threw for 3,565 yards and 30 touchdowns.

The teams exchanged field goals and touchdowns throughout the second half. Oregon took a brief lead in the third quarter, only for Boise State to tie it before the final quarter. With the game tied 27-27 in the fourth, Dakorien Moore’s long touchdown reception provided the decisive margin with just under eight minutes remaining.

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning emphasized the team’s ability to respond to early adversity. "There’s been times [in] practice where the offense has started super slow... it all just comes back to how we respond," Dante Moore said after the game.

Boise State coach Spencer Danielson acknowledged the effort despite the defeat. "You put your all into something, you put all the chips on the table, and you come up short — it hurts. We’re not going to make any excuses. We’ve got to find a way to be better," Danielson said.

Boise State, coming off a 9-5 season in the Mountain West and a loss to Washington in the LA Bowl, showed resilience but were unable to overcome the Ducks’ home advantage and offensive execution. The result keeps Oregon’s home dominance intact as the Ducks seek to build on their strong start to the 2026 college football season.
