The Malaysia SEA Games and Asean Para Games Organising Committee (MASOC) has announced a partnership with Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) to enhance the promotion of next year’s regional sporting events. As part of the collaboration, MASOC will sponsor the King of Sprint jersey during the 2026 LTdL race, using the prestigious cycling event as a platform to boost visibility for the SEA Games and Asean Para Games both domestically and internationally.

Datuk Abdul Rashid Yaakub, MASOC’s secretariat chief executive officer, explained that the partnership aims to leverage LTdL’s extensive reach, particularly through international television broadcasts, to raise awareness of Malaysia’s hosting of the two multi-sport events slated for 2027. He emphasized the importance of effective marketing strategies as preparations continue for what is expected to be Southeast Asia’s largest multi-sport gathering.

“We selected this collaboration due to the comprehensive sponsorship package and the opportunity to promote the SEA Games and Asean Para Games globally,” Rashid said at the official announcement held in Kuala Lumpur. He added that the arrangement aligns with MASOC’s mission to inform the region’s population about the Games, especially those in neighboring Southeast Asian countries, by connecting with audiences during one of Asia’s most notable cycling competitions.

In addition to international broadcast exposure, the partnership will also focus on grassroots engagement within Malaysia. LTdL will provide promotional activities throughout the race route, including events like the Cavalcade and the Voice of LTdL competition, which attract large crowds and allow for widespread branding opportunities. The King of Sprint jersey, one of the main prizes in the 30th edition of LTdL, will prominently feature the SEA Games and Asean Para Games logos during the race.

LTdL’s 2026 edition is set to begin on Sunday with Stage 1, running from Shah Alam to Kampar, and will conclude with Stage 8 from Muar to Putrajaya on October 4. The race covers a total distance of 1,285.5 kilometers and features 20 teams, including two WorldTeams, eight ProTeams, nine Continental teams, and the Malaysian national team.

National Sports Council event and sports management division director Safrushahar Mohd Yusoff and LTdL chief operating officer Emir Abdul Jalal were also present at the announcement. The partnership underscores ongoing efforts by Malaysian sports authorities to maximize the profile of their upcoming regional competitions through strategic alliances with established sporting events.
