Three orphaned fox cubs were released back into the wild in Leicester following their rescue from a narrow gap between two houses. The 12-week-old cubs had become trapped in a six-inch space, prompting firefighters to intervene on Easter Sunday after nearby residents reported hearing distress calls.

Emergency responders had to break through brickwork attached to a garage to safely free the animals. After their extraction, the cubs were taken to the Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital, where they received care and rehabilitation.

Amy Blower, a representative from the wildlife charity involved, described the moment of release as “an exhilarating feeling,” highlighting the positive outcome for the animals after their ordeal. She noted that the foxes will continue to receive supplemental feeding and monitoring for at least two weeks following their return to a protected, undisclosed location in the wild.
