Oscar Onley secured the best young rider classification at the Vuelta a Espana, which concluded on Sunday in Granada. The 23-year-old Scotsman finished sixth overall in the three-week Grand Tour, demonstrating resilience amid crashes and illness throughout the race. His consistent performance earned him the White Jersey, awarded to the highest-ranked rider born after January 1, 2001.

Onley rides for Netcompany Ineos, and his bike featured a tribute to Fin Tarling, a Welsh cyclist who tragically died last month. Tarling, aged 19, was fatally injured in a crash during the Volta a Portugal when a non-race vehicle traveling the wrong way struck him. The dedication appeared alongside the Welsh national flag with the name Finlay displayed on Onley’s bicycle.

This achievement follows Onley’s strong showing at the 2025 Tour de France, where he finished fourth overall. His performance at the Vuelta confirms his status as one of the sport’s most promising young talents.

The overall winner of the Vuelta a Espana was Spain’s Enric Mas of Movistar Team, who completed the race in a total time of 73 hours and 52 minutes. Mas became the first Spanish rider to claim the Vuelta title since Alberto Contador, a three-time champion, last won in 2014.
