KUALA KANGSAR — The Public Service Commission has reported the filling of more than 1,000 nursing positions within the public sector, as part of ongoing efforts to address critical staffing shortages in healthcare. The commission’s chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus, stated that a total of over 1,400 nursing vacancies still need to be filled.

Speaking after officiating an event at Kampung Orang Asli Ulu Chenein, Ahmad Jailani said the recruitment process remains active, with interviews being conducted to expedite hiring. He noted that some nursing positions require candidates to undergo training, which contributes to the timeline for filling all vacancies.

Candidates holding diplomas in nursing are being invited to attend walk-in interviews at recruitment carnivals organized by the commission. These events are part of a broader strategy to accelerate the hiring of healthcare workers.

In addition to nurses, the commission is prioritizing the recruitment of other essential roles, including Public Health Assistants, to meet urgent workforce needs in the health sector. The commission continues to focus on ensuring that critical positions are filled promptly to maintain adequate healthcare services.
