Authorities have announced that 2,357 police officers and personnel will be deployed in Putrajaya to ensure security and manage traffic during Malaysia’s 69th National Day celebrations. The events are expected to draw approximately 80,000 visitors.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus detailed that preparations for the festivities began on August 25 and will continue through August 31. Security and traffic control operations are planned for both the National Day eve celebrations at Dataran Merdeka on August 30 and the main National Day event at Dataran Putrajaya on August 31.

Road closures have been scheduled in phases to facilitate rehearsals and the official ceremonies. From August 26 to August 28, Persiaran Perdana, between Jalan Kemerdekaan and Lebuh Bestari, will be fully closed. Additional closures will take place on August 28 and 29 from 6 a.m. to noon, impacting several locations including Dataran Putra, Persiaran Perdana, Laman Perdana, and multiple roads designated as Jalan P2a, P2t, P2s, P2w, and P2y.

A more extensive lockdown of the Core Island area is planned starting at 5 a.m. on August 30 and will remain in effect until 6 p.m. on August 31. This will affect major routes such as Jambatan Seri Wawasan, Jambatan Seri Saujana, Jambatan Seri Gemilang, Jambatan Putra, and Jambatan Seri Ehsan. Additionally, several other roads including Lebuh Bestari, Lebuh Setia, Lebuh Saujana, Lebuh Gemilang, Lebuh Wawasan, Lebuh Sentosa, Jalan Tun Hussein, and Persiaran Barat will be affected.

Comm Fadil urged the public to plan their travel accordingly, arrive early, and take advantage of free shuttle bus services provided to ease congestion.
