Green Bay Packers pass rusher Micah Parsons remains uncertain about when he will return to the field this NFL season as he continues his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee. Parsons spoke with reporters Tuesday for the first time since the Packers began training camp last week, expressing a strong desire to return but cautioning that the timeline remains unclear.
Placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, Parsons is focused on regaining full health after the injury ended his first season with the Packers prematurely. The All-Pro edge rusher, acquired in a high-profile trade from the Dallas Cowboys last August, emphasized that opponents should be more concerned about the intensity he will bring upon his return rather than the status of his knee.
“I think people are worried about, you know, if I come back. I just feel like people should just be worried about how I’m going to be when I come back,” Parsons said. “Like, people are worried about the knee. They should be worried about how I’m going to play when I get back. The anger, the frustration, the things that I’m going to have to let out because of how long it’s been since I played.”
Parsons delivered an impactful start to his tenure with Green Bay, recording 12½ sacks in 13 games. However, his injury, sustained during a Dec. 14 loss to the Denver Broncos, coincided with a sharp downturn in the Packers’ fortunes, as the team failed to secure a win in any of their remaining contests that season.
As the Packers continue preparations for the upcoming season, Parsons’ availability remains a key factor. The team has not provided a definitive recovery timeline, reflecting the cautious approach often taken with significant knee injuries in professional football. Meanwhile, Parsons’ comments underscore his competitive mindset and readiness to contribute once cleared to return.
