The Green Bay Packers secured a 27-19 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night at Lambeau Field, overcoming three turnovers and a late rally by their opponents. Quarterback Jordan Love threw for 288 yards and three touchdowns, connecting with Tucker Kraft, Matthew Golden, and Josh Jacobs, who also contributed two rushing touchdowns for the Packers.
Despite the win, Love acknowledged the team’s difficulty in closing out the game. “Late in the game, it wasn’t good enough,” he said. “We weren’t able to finish the way we wanted. That’s something we’ve got to improve on, clean up as an offense and be better there.”
Love completed 30 of 41 passes but threw one interception. Jacobs, who managed 39 rushing yards on 21 carries against the NFL’s lowest-ranked run defense, scored on both a four-yard reception and a one-yard run. The Packers also applied significant pressure on Panthers quarterback Bryce Young, sacking him six times throughout the game.
Green Bay’s defense continued its strong performance this season by not allowing any of its last five opponents to score more than 20 points. Safety Javon Bullard praised the unit’s effectiveness, calling it “really special.”
For Carolina, Bryce Young completed 23 of 41 attempts for 209 yards, throwing one touchdown pass and one interception. Running back Chuba Hubbard contributed with 81 rushing yards on 22 carries and added 38 receiving yards with seven catches, along with a touchdown.
The game featured notable injuries on both sides. Green Bay wide receiver Christian Watson was hospitalized after sustaining a chest injury on a 53-yard reception in the second quarter. Watson was eventually cleared to return to the game following a CT scan that showed no internal bleeding, although he revealed he had broken a rib. “I felt like I was watching ‘WWE Smackdown vs. Raw’ or something, seeing the cameras on me when I was coming out of the ambulance,” Watson said. He finished with eight catches for 113 yards.
On the Panthers’ side, cornerback Will Lee suffered a hamstring injury diving to make a tackle on the same play and was taken off the field on a cart.
The Packers’ ability to start strong and maintain their lead, despite late-game struggles and injuries, helped them improve their record and demonstrate resilience against a competitive Carolina squad.
