Oman Air and Fun & Son have signed a strategic agreement to expand direct flight services between Russia and Oman’s Dhofar Governorate, aimed at promoting tourism and diversifying the Sultanate’s tourism markets. The pact was finalized during a ceremony marking the inauguration of the new Grand Tours Company headquarters in Salalah, under the patronage of Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidy, Oman’s Minister of Heritage and Tourism. The event was attended by officials and representatives from the aviation and tourism sectors.

Under the terms of the agreement, direct flights between Moscow and Salalah are set to resume in September 2026, initially with two flights per week. This frequency is planned to increase to five weekly flights starting in November 2026. In addition to Moscow, the agreement includes the launch of direct flights from Kazan and Yekaterinburg, further improving air connectivity between Russia and Oman.

At the same event, a separate agreement was announced between Grand Tours and Fun & Sun Kazakhstan to establish direct flight routes between Kazakhstan and Dhofar Governorate. These flights are scheduled to commence on October 20, 2026, with four flights per week. The initiative aims to strengthen Oman’s presence in Central Asian tourism markets.

Officials involved highlighted that the enhanced flight services are expected to attract over 40,000 tourists to Dhofar during the coming tourist season. The influx is anticipated to bolster the local tourism and hospitality industries and contribute positively to the economic development of the Dhofar region.
