The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Thailand have taken a significant step to strengthen their bilateral relations through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement was signed on October 15 in Bangkok by Jasem Mohamed Albubaiwi, Secretary-General of the GCC, and Shasak Phuangketekow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

The MoU aims to deepen cooperation and friendship between the GCC member states and Thailand by establishing a formal framework for dialogue and joint coordination. It is designed to promote collaboration across a range of areas including political and economic issues, cultural exchange, and people-to-people ties. Both parties expressed the intention to explore new avenues for partnership, reflecting a mutual commitment to institutionalize relations through sustained consultation and engagement.

Jasem Mohamed Albubaiwi highlighted the agreement as a milestone that signifies a shared desire to foster ongoing dialogue, mutual understanding, and knowledge exchange. He emphasized that the MoU provides a foundation for expanding cooperation in the future by developing joint action plans that translate agreements into practical initiatives and programs. Albubaiwi also noted the importance of leveraging this institutional partnership to enhance communication and coordination at multiple levels.

The agreement is expected to contribute to strengthening stability, prosperity, and sustainable development in both the GCC region and Thailand. By expanding the scope of collaboration, the partnership seeks to advance common interests and meet the aspirations of the involved parties.

Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Shasak Phuangketekow underscored the value of developing closer ties with the GCC. The two sides aim to build upon the positive momentum generated by the MoU to elevate their relationship toward broader horizons of cooperation across various sectors.
