The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN), in collaboration with the General Department of Criminal Investigation at the Ministry of Interior, conducted a series of inspection raids in Jahra Governorate on June 24, resulting in the closure of three unlicensed food establishments operating from private residences. The establishments included one restaurant and two grocery stores that were found to be in violation of health and safety regulations.
The operation uncovered several serious violations, including the management and operation of food businesses without the required health licenses, unsanitary conditions in food handling and preparation, and the possession of adulterated and expired food products. Officials reported that the seized items were deemed unfit for human consumption, raising concerns about potential public health risks.
PAFN confirmed that legal measures have been taken against those responsible, and the cases have been referred to competent authorities to proceed with enforcement actions in accordance with applicable laws. The authority urged the public to avoid purchasing food from unlicensed or unknown-source establishments, particularly those operating from private residences, due to the health and safety risks involved.
In a statement, PAFN emphasized the importance of public cooperation in reporting violations, noting that food safety is a shared responsibility between regulatory bodies and the community. The authority also pledged to continue intensifying inspection campaigns and to maintain strict enforcement to ensure compliance with food safety standards throughout Kuwait.
