Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa met on Sunday with the European Union’s Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process, Christophe Bigot, at the prime minister’s office in Ramallah to discuss recent developments in the Palestinian territories. Their talks addressed the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, a rise in occupation measures, increased settler violence in the West Bank, and Israel’s continued withholding of Palestinian tax revenues for the eighteenth consecutive month.

Mustafa highlighted the importance of partnering with international actors, particularly the EU, to promote political and economic stability amid escalating challenges. He provided an update on the Palestinian government’s reform program, which is slated for completion by the end of the year, and called for sustained international financial support to help address pressing economic and fiscal difficulties.

During the meeting, the prime minister underscored the urgent need to maintain essential public services in Gaza, specifically in health and education sectors. He advocated for enhanced support to facilitate early recovery efforts and to meet immediate basic needs as a foundation for future reconstruction initiatives.

The discussion included Minister of Finance and Planning Stephan Salameh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Omar Awadallah, and Andreas Fiedler, the EU Representative to Palestine.

On the same day, Palestinian Vice President Hussein Al-Sheikh met with a senior delegation from Europe. He briefed them on the recent escalation of attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians, including property damage and assaults on foreign solidarity activists. Al-Sheikh called for measures to protect Palestinian civilians and emphasized the necessity of holding those responsible for such attacks accountable.
