The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Men’s national squads for the upcoming limited-overs home series against the West Indies, as well as the Rest of India team for the Irani Cup clash against Ranji Trophy champions Jammu & Kashmir.
Right-handed batter Naman Dhir and pacer Auqib Nabi have received their maiden call-ups to the Indian ODI squad. Naman Dhir will join established players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the line-up, with Shubman Gill appointed as captain and KL Rahul named vice-captain. Notably, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been omitted from both the ODI and T20I squads for this series.
The ODI series is scheduled to start on September 27 with the first match in Thiruvananthapuram, followed by fixtures in Guwahati on September 30 and New Chandigarh on October 3. The five-match T20 International series will begin shortly after, starting in Lucknow on October 6, with subsequent games in Ranchi (October 9), Indore (October 11), Hyderabad (October 14), and Bengaluru (October 17). The T20I side will be captained by Shreyas Iyer, with Tilak Varma as vice-captain.
Despite his exclusion from the national limited-overs squads, Rishabh Pant has been named captain of the Rest of India side for the upcoming Irani Cup, set to contest Jammu & Kashmir, who won the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy. The Rest of India squad also includes pacer Akash Deep, pending fitness clearance.
In another update, Varun Chakaravarthy has been ruled out of the Japan T20I match on September 22, which forms part of celebrations marking 75 years of India-Japan diplomatic relations and is linked to the 2026 Asian Games. Chakaravarthy’s withdrawal is due to a side strain. His place has been taken by Vipraj Nigam, who will make his international debut with this call-up.
Additionally, Nitish Kumar Reddy, initially named in the Asian Games squad, has been withdrawn and will instead be part of the ODI squad for the West Indies series.
