Papa Johns International and PJP Investments Group have agreed to extend their Development Agreement through 2036, securing PJP’s exclusive rights to operate the pizza brand across the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Iraq. The extension, announced in early 2026, outlines plans to significantly expand the Papa Johns presence in these markets.

Currently, PJP oversees 167 Papa Johns outlets in the region, with ambitions to grow this number to over 400 restaurants by the end of the agreement. Iraq marks a new addition to PJP’s portfolio, representing the brand’s formal entry into the Iraqi market. The first Papa Johns locations in Iraq are slated to open in spring 2027, with a target of reaching 25 restaurants there by 2035.

In addition to its Middle East operations, PJP manages Papa Johns expansion in India through a joint venture, aiming to open 650 restaurants across the country by 2034.

Todd Peenger, President and CEO of Papa Johns, highlighted the longevity and success of the partnership, stating that the 10-year extension reflects a mutual commitment to sustained growth across the region. PJP has been acknowledged for its innovative approach, notably introducing shawarma and croissant pizzas, which have since been incorporated into Papa Johns menus in other global markets.

PJP has received multiple accolades, including Global Franchisee of the Year and Developer of the Year awards, underscoring its role in transforming Papa Johns into a leading international franchise within the pizza sector. Dr Tapan Vaidya, Group CEO of PJP, noted that more than two decades of collaboration has established one of the most successful franchise operations under the brand worldwide.
