Rishi Patel delivered a powerful innings of 115 runs off 61 balls to lead Leicestershire Foxes to a convincing eight-wicket victory over Northamptonshire Steelbacks in a List A match at Wantage Road. Patel’s aggressive performance included 13 boundaries and five sixes, and he set a new record for the fastest List A century in Leicestershire’s history, surpassing the previous mark held jointly by Darren Maddy and Lewis Hill. His century was also the third fastest ever recorded at Wantage Road. Ben Mike supported Patel with an unbeaten 71, guiding the Foxes to their target of 247 with 11.1 overs remaining.

Northamptonshire’s innings suffered early blows as Ian Holland took three wickets, disrupting the top order, while Alex Green also contributed three wickets. Despite a resilient 66 from George Bartlett, marking his fourth consecutive List A half-century, Northamptonshire struggled to post a competitive total and were bowled out with 27 balls remaining. Northamptonshire's lower order faltered as Luke Procter was run out swiftly, and Lewis McManus was caught off Patel as the Foxes took the final three wickets for just three runs.

Leicestershire’s innings began with Patel being dropped early on by Bartlett, a reprieve he capitalized on immediately by attacking the bowlers with multiple boundaries in a single over. Although Yuzi Chahal and Dom Leech managed to slow the scoring for a while, Patel reached his century in 53 balls, beating the previous record by one ball. After Patel’s dismissal, the run rate slowed, but Leicestershire were well positioned to play cautiously and secure the win comfortably.
