Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, emphasized the importance of cultural exchange between China and Egypt during a visit to Cairo on Wednesday. Speaking alongside Entissar El-Sisi, spouse of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Peng noted the shared cultural heritage between the two countries and encouraged greater collaboration among artists.

During a visit to a small handicrafts exhibition in Egypt’s capital, Peng highlighted the potential for traditional crafts from both nations to gain renewed vitality through mutual learning and inheritance. She described the displayed items as a testament to the creativity and unique aesthetic values of the Egyptian people, underscoring Egypt’s long history and deep cultural roots.

The meeting between the two first ladies included a discussion over tea, where they exchanged views on the longstanding friendship between China and Egypt. Peng expressed hope that increased people-to-people exchanges would further strengthen ties and promote cultural understanding.
