Ten members of the Cheltenham High School football team, including four coaches, have been charged in connection with a hazing incident that led to the cancellation of the team’s season, Montgomery County authorities said Wednesday. The charges stem from two separate assaults on a 15-year-old teammate that occurred in 2025.

According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, the alleged incidents took place in the school locker room. In the first incident, on August 15, several players reportedly restrained the sophomore player while another teammate poked him in the buttocks with a broomstick. This episode was recorded by two players and the footage was subsequently shared among students during the fall semester.

The second incident, which occurred on September 3, involved multiple players kicking or stepping on the same victim. During this episode, the same player involved in the earlier action again used a broomstick to prod the 15-year-old. Several witnesses reportedly observed this assault.

Following the revelations, the school opted to cancel the entire football season. The investigation has led to charges being filed against ten individuals connected to the team, highlighting ongoing concerns over hazing practices in high school athletics.

Authorities have not released specific details about the charges or the identities of those accused beyond their association with the Cheltenham High School football program. The investigation remains ongoing as officials continue to gather evidence and assess the full extent of the alleged misconduct.
