Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) and Bersatu are deliberating over which logo to use in the forthcoming Melaka state election amid the suspension of Perikatan Nasional’s activities by the Registrar of Societies (ROS). The suspension has impacted the coalition’s ability to officially deploy its logo in the election, prompting its component parties to explore alternative options.

Khairil Nizam Khirudin, a PAS central committee member, confirmed that discussions are ongoing within the party regarding the choice of logo. “All possibilities are there, but the matter is still being discussed at the PAS central committee level,” he said, adding that further information would be provided in due course.

Similarly, Bersatu’s Youth information chief, Harris Idaham Rashid, indicated that the party is considering several approaches should it decide to contest in Melaka. One option includes contesting under Bersatu’s own logo within the framework of an electoral pact. Alternatively, they may contest under the logo of an existing coalition, depending on agreements reached among the involved parties. “The final decision would depend on negotiations and agreement among all parties involved,” Harris noted.

The decision over logo usage comes in the wake of the Melaka state assembly’s dissolution on Wednesday, which sets the stage for state elections. With campaigning expected to begin soon, the inability of Perikatan Nasional to use its official emblem has added complexity to the preparations of its component parties.

Other parties within the Perikatan coalition have also been contacted regarding their stance on the matter, though no definitive statements have been made public as of yet. The situation remains fluid as the coalition navigates regulatory constraints while seeking to maintain a unified front in the upcoming electoral contest.
