Pershaada will be supplemented for the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes at York on August 21 following her recent victory at Glorious Goodwood. The Richard Hannon-trained filly, a daughter of Persian Force, secured a two-length win over Adonius in the Group 3 Veuve Clicquot Molecomb Stakes on Wednesday. This victory marked a return to winning form for Pershaada, who had previously finished fourth in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot.

In preparation for the Nunthorpe Stakes, York Racecourse introduced a “second entry” stage this week, allowing connections to supplement horses for a fee of approximately £10,000. Richard Hannon, who manages Pershaada and whose father trained the five-furlong Group 1 winner Lyric Fantasy in 1992, welcomed the initiative. He noted that Pershaada is a strong filly and will carry a significant weight concession in the race, which could influence the outcome.

In related racing news, jockey Oisín Murphy delivered an impressive performance at Chester recently, riding a four-timer at 52-1 odds. This success narrowed the gap in the jockeys’ championship standings, reducing Billy Loughnane’s lead from 84 to 77 victories. The title race remains competitive as the season progresses.
